By: Devynn Martin START 10 TH GRADE YEAR: GETTING THE HANG OF THINGS

INTRODUCTION You are a sophomore in high school, you aren't happy with your freshman year accolades. Your grades were okay (c+ gpa), didn’t play any sports, or participate in any extracurricular activities and you have friends but don’t talk to anyone outside of your circle. Through this journey you will decide how this year and the rest of your high school career will unfold. Continue

GETTING STARTED It’s the first day of school and you’re trying to decide what to wear. You have two options: Dress To Impress Don't put in any effort in what you wear

DRESS TO IMPRESS When you get to school everyone looks at you like a whole new person, people who never looked your way last year are not complimenting you on your outfit. This makes you feel really special but also a little nervous because you feel that you might have to dress to impress everyday. In order to this you must get a job to pay for all your new clothes, luckily your aunt and uncle own a bakery and are willing to pay you above minimum wage. Get a job Don’t put effort in what you wear

GETTING A JOB Your aunt and uncle are more than happy to give you a job at the bakery the only problem is the bakery isn’t open on weekends so you could only work during the week. Working during the week means heading to the bakery after school so you might not be able to do certain sports or extracurricular activities. Work after school Don’t work and put no effort into what you wear.

WORK AFTER SCHOOL Since you decided to work, after school you go to the bakery, after work you go home and do any homework you have and go to sleep since you're too tired to do anything else. Continue

SEEING OLD FRIENDS Since you decide not to put in any effort in your clothing, the only people that speak to you are old friends from last year and faculty members. During breakfast everyone is getting their schedule and when you compare with your friends unfortunately you guys have no classes w/ each other. You can either switch into some classes w/ them or keep your classes and possibly meet new friends. Go to counselor about schedule Keep your classes and try to meet new people

SCHEDULE CHANGE You go to your counselor, when it is finally your turn to talk to her and tell her which classes you want to switch into, she tells you that those classes are full and that you cannot switch. So basically you’re forced to meet and talk to new people. Luckily out of the classes you were trying to switch out of there is a class you’re interested in and you will have something in common to people who enjoy this class. Continue

LUNCH At lunch you decide to sit with your friends but you also invite a few new people you met in class today. During lunch they have sign-up sheets for various activities. Class Rep Fall Sports (Only if you chose not to work)

CLASS REPRESENTATIVE If you chose to dress to impress the first day and to work then you have a chance of winning sophomore class rep. If you chose not to put in any effort in what you wear then you’re still unknown to a lot of people and your chances aren’t looking too good. Continue

FALL SPORTS In order to do fall sports you can’t work because you won’t have time to do both so if you’re working then either quit your job or choose to be class representative. If you’re not working then you have a few options to pick from. Class Rep Quit Job/Girls Tennis Quit Job/Girls Volleyball Quit Job/Cross Country Quit Job/Boys Soccer

CLASS REPRESENTATIVE (CONT.) It seems that whether you dressed to impress or not there were still people more popular and known than you and sadly you lost. Continue

FALL SPORTS The good thing about joining a new sport is that you get to meet more new people and possibly new friends. Just be sure to stay on top of your school work to maintain good grades otherwise you will be kicked off the team. Continue

MAINTAINING GRADES Fall is almost over and your grades are starting to drop due to you being tired from sports you must either improve or be forced to stop playing soccer. Continue

END Decide whether or not you’re happy with your progress, have you met new people, became more involved, improved your grades etc. If you’re not happy its not too late to change and improve if you are then keep up the good work. END
