2 Final project  Part 1  Schools of thought – Describe the major themes and concepts from each of the schools of thought you have learned about. You should include a discussion of structuralism, functionalism, behaviorism, Gestalt psychology and psychoanalysis (1-2 pages).  Failures – In your opinion what do you think are some of the biggest failures in the history of psychology? Use your critical thinking skills here to analyze how themes and concepts from some of the schools of thought have not stood the test of time and discuss why you think this is the case (1 page).

3 Final project  Part 2  Successes – In your opinion what do you think are the major successes in the history of psychology? You should consider what has stood the test of time and has formed the foundation of modern psychology. You should use specific examples to illustrate how this school of thought remains relevant in modern psychology (1page).  Reflection –Imagine you are a famous psychologist 10 years from now. What do you envision your school of thought to be? You can be creative here and integrate concepts from the different schools of thought you have learned about to create your own school of thought! (1 page).

4 Final project  APA formatting (including title page, double spacing, 12 point font, 1” margins)  Reference to the text book and at least 2 other credible sources (must be APA formatted)  Proof read  Minimum of 4, maximum 6 pages (not including title or reference page)

5 Course Level Assessment  The purpose of CLAs are to measure your mastery of the skills and knowledge described by the course outcomes  We want to see you achieve mastery on these assessments  CLAs are different from GELs  GELs are expected to develop over the course of your studies (we do not expect you to achieve mastery of a GEL at this point in your studies)  However you should be achieving mastery of CLAs

6 Demonstrate understanding of the major psychological schools of thought  9 - Not Assessed : No work is received  0 - No Progress : You demonstrate no understanding or progress  1 – Introductory : You identify a few general principles of one or two of the schools of thought  2 – Emergent : You identify several general principles of a few major perspectives of psychology and can delineate a few specific theories for at least one perspective  3 – Practiced: You identify most of the general principles of several major perspectives of psychology and can delineate specific theories for a few major perspectives.  4 – Proficient : You identify the principles of most of the major perspectives and can delineate most of the specific theories for several major perspectives.  5 – Mastery - You identify the principles of each of the major perspectives of psychology, as well as the specific theories within each perspective, and demonstrate critical evaluation.
