Born 1820 in Dorchester County Maryland Nickname “Moses” Escaped slavery in 1849 Harriet was an American slave who escaped from slavery in the south and became the leading abolitionist before the civil war. After escaping slavery she returned to the South to help family members and non-relatives escape to the North.

11. Born February 12, 1809- Died April 15, 1865 President Lincoln is best known for being the 16 th president of the United States. He preserved the Union during the Civil War and brought about the Emancipation of slavery. President Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth at Fords theatre in Washington D.C. Fun fact: Lincolns cabinet coined the term “hold your friends close and your enemies closer.”
