1 1 2014 FCAT Writing Administration Schedule Day 1 —Tuesday — February 25, 2014 Grades 4, 8, 10 Writing Prompt — Session 1 60 minutes Day 2 — Wednesday — February 26, 2014 Grades 4, 8, 10 Make-up Testing 60 minutes PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE MAKEUP DAY IN 2014 All Grades 4, 8 and 10 students in attendance on Tuesday February 25 th, 2014 must participate in the FCAT Writing Assessment

2 2 What’s New for 2014  The ELL category on the student grid sheets no longer records the length of time ELL students have been receiving ESOL services, but now records the length of time enrolled in a US school.  The Required Administration information document now asks for accommodations provided and used. Only those accommodations used should be recorded in the accommodations used column.

3 3 What’s New for 2014  The Florida Test Security Statute Section 1008.24 and Florida State Board of Education Test Security Rule 6A- 10.042 located in Appendix B of the manual are now printed on perforated pages to tear out and provide during training.  The testing rules read to students has been changed to emphasize that they may not share or discuss the writing prompt with anyone via any sources such as casual conversation, social media, texting, emailing, posting online etc. IF a student is found to be sharing the writing prompt, their writing test will be invalidated EVEN if it was not the intention of the student to cheat.

5 5  If a student starts a test and leaves without finishing (for an appointment, illness, etc.), he/she will NOT be allowed to complete the test  A seating chart is required for each classroom. It must show the front and back of the room and any changes that occur during testing.  Schools must adhere to the testing schedule in the FCAT Writing 2.0 Manual: THE FCAT WRITING PROMPT MUST BE GIVEN TO EVERY STUDENT IN ATTENDANCE ON FEBRUARY 25th, 2014. The 26th is the only makeup day provided and should be used for makeups only.

6 6 Reminders for 2014 Test AdministratorsTest Administrators –Must be certified educators –Must sign Test Administrator Prohibited Activities Agreement & the FCAT Administration and Security Agreement  Training materials, comment forms and other important materials are available at PearsonAccess.com/fl  Schools must maintain the Chain of Custody form which includes the dates and times that activities are completed, the names of people involved and information about the locked storage room.

7 7 Reminders for 2014  The 2014 FCAT Writing 2.0 Assessment is 60 minutes long. The entire 60 minutes must be provided 60 minutes long. The entire 60 minutes must be provided  Preid Labels must include the correct: Student Name, ID Number, District #, School # and Grade Level.  Test Administrators may not administer the test to family members, nor can parents or guardians be present during testing.  Possession of an electronic device is (even on break) cause for invalidation

8 8  All itinerant teachers and school staff, including administrative staff, must receive thorough training and be provided with an FCAT Writing Manual well ahead of the test date  Writing folder Security numbers must be recorded and tracked.  Test Group Codes must be marked with the required administration information. 9 9 IMPORTANT SECURITY INFORMATION PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be vigilant of your Test Administrators and make sure that they are: –Actively Proctoring students –Providing the correct materials –Providing the accommodations correctly –Providing the test time correctly –ARE ALWAYS keeping the test materials secure. This includes not talking about the writing prompt at any time…
