2 Department of Science Grade K Pacing Guide: Motion of Objects/ Practice of Science Benchmarks SC.K.P.12.1: Investigate that things move in different ways, such as fast, slow, etc. SC.K.N.1.1: Collaborate with a partner to collect information. SC.K.N.1.2: Make observations of the natural world and know that they are descriptors collected using the five senses. SC.K.N.1.3: Keep records as appropriate - such as pictorial - of investigations conducted. SC.K.N.1.4: Observe and create a visual representation of an object which includes major features. SC.K.N.1.5: Recognize that learning can come from careful observation.

5 How Do Different Things Move? An object may move back and forth.

6 An object may move in a straight line.

7 An object may move round and round.

8 A crayon may move in a zigzag. What are some ways you can make a crayon move on your paper?

9 An object may move along in a curved path.

10 What are some of the ways animals can move? Look at the video to see different ways that the dog moved. Can you move the same way? Department of Science

11 What does motion look like? A bird is perching on the branch of a tree. It has not moved. Then it flies to another branch. The bird is in motion and has changed its position.

12 How Can You Move? Draw a way you like to move. Draw a picture of yourself going slower or faster.
