THE PRACTICE OF SCIENCE EARTH in SPACE and TIME TOPIC XIV-SC.K.E.5.3 Day Sky Recognize that the Sun can only be seen in the daytime. TOPIC XV-SC.K.E.5.4 Day and Night Sky Observe that sometimes the Moon can be seen at night and sometimes during the day.

Grade K Pacing Guide: Earth in Space and Time Day Sky - Day and Night Sky Practice of Science Benchmarks SC.K.E.5.3: Recognize that the Sun can only be seen in the daytime. SC.K.E.5.4; Observe that sometimes the Moon can be seen at night and sometimes during the day. SC.K.N.1.1: Collaborate with a partner to collect information. SC.K.N.1.2: Make observations of the natural world and know that they are descriptors collected using the five senses. SC.K.N.1.3: Keep records as appropriate - such as pictorial - of investigations conducted. SC.K.N.1.4: Observe and create a visual representation of an object which includes major features. SC.K.N.1.5: Recognize that learning can come from careful observation.

The sun can only be seen during the daytime. The next two slides are pictures of the Sun. The Sun rises at dawn as daylight occurs on different parts of our Earth. A wondrous sight to greet us each morning!

What causes the day time sky and the night time sky?  It is day time in the part of Earth facing the Sun.  How does the sky change during the day?  It is night time in the part of Earth facing away from the Sun  How does the sky change during the night? Department of Science

 What is the sun and why do all living things depend on it? The Sun is the closest star to our planet Earth and provides light and energy for Earth.

Can you see the sun in the daytime and the moon in the nighttime?

The Moon can be seen in the day and night sky.

The moon is a satellite of Earth and the closest object in space to Earth. What can scientists do to study different phases of the moon besides make voyages into outer space?

What are you wondering now? Is the Man in the Moon real or make-believe?
