4 There are many things to do in Canada Each region is very unique Fishing Farming/Agriculture Fishing Mining Mining for Fuel – Gas & Oil Forestry

5 People choose to live in places for many reasons: Agriculture Natural Resources (forests, fish or minerals) Manufacturing Business Greater Variety of Jobs Cultural Diversity Rural Settlement Urban Settlement

6 Rural and Urban Settlement Rural Settlement – people settle in areas outside cities and towns.

7 Rural and Urban Settlement Urban Settlement – people settle in cities. Urbanization – when a rural area is changing and becoming an urban area.

8 Population Density Population Density –The number of people that live in 1 square kilometer (km 2 ). Southern Ontario This region has a high population density.  A lot of people for 1 km 2. This region as a low population density.  Not too many people for 1 km2. Northern Manitoba
