1 Introducing new vocabulary ; Competition ; a situation in which people or organizations compete with each other. Old-fashioned; not modern and not fashionable any more. Routine ; the usual way in which you do things. Midday ;twelve o,clock in the middle of the day. Publisher ; a person or company that produces books magazines, etc. and makes them available for people to buy.

2 Asking students to work in pairs to respond to these situations Someone asks you what you think the best thing is about short stories A friend asks you what you used to read when you were ten years old. Someone asks for your opinion about modern novels.

3 Students are asked to work in groups ; They should write notes for two paragraphs. They write about the role that jobs can play in helping someone to become a writer.

4 Which jobs do you think would help the writer to be better ? Interesting jobs where the person does a lot of things or meets a lot of people. For example a tour guide or a lawyer.

5 What do you understand by the power of education ? Education can give everyone the opportunity to be successful.

6 In what way does reading literature improve your education ? By introducing new and rich language. By providing a model for usage By describing new and exciting experience that may reinforce your own.
