2. Writing Structures There are two structures that are used for hard and soft news. Those structures are the inverted pyramid and the narrative structure. The inverted pyramid is used for hard news. The narrative structure is used for soft news.

3. Inverted Pyramid This structure method involves using the most important information in a story in the lead and then follow that lead with less important information. This method is usually used when a writer wants to get the most important information to a reader first. Although this structure indicates that it contains the five W’s and How, it lacks the, “why” and the “how”. Unfortunately, only editors benefit for this writing structure. The good of this structure is that it follows a formula like many other writings.

4. Narrative Structure Introduction Paragraph The introduction grabs the readers attention. The setting for the story is described. Some characters are introduced. Give hints of what is to come which is followed by paragraphs leading to conclusion.

6. Body of Work Can be single or numerous paragraphs. Provide lots of details, adjectives, descriptive and action words. Problem or excitement is outlined. All characters are introduced and described. Consider the sequence of events.
