1 REPORT WRITING The main purpose of a report is to provide information.
Reports are used to present information on a particular topic after research has been carried out. to give details of work carried out over a certain period. with information on what still needs to be done. to give an account of what actually happened at an event e.g. a road accident or a police report

2 Writing a Report Reports vary considerably in length, complexity and the degree of formality required.

Heading or Title Include a title or heading on your report. For example: A report on the 2011 Christmas Enterprise Fayre at CACHS.

4 Introduction or Terms of Reference
This is the second section. It states what you have been asked to do. It states why the report is being written, who asked for the report and when the report needs to be completed. For example: An investigation into the Christmas Enterprise Fayre has been requested by the Departmental Head. The report examines the relevance of the Fayre in terms of curriculum enrichment and qualifications.The report is required by the end of term.

5 Procedure This is the third heading in the report.
The Procedure states the methods used to obtain information. For example: All learners were asked to complete an anonymous online questionnaire about the Christmas Fayre.

6 Findings This is the fourth heading of the report.
The findings must be actual facts and not your own thoughts or opinions. For example: 90% of school learners gained an OCN qualification in Enterprise. 100% of the learners made a profit on their stall.

7 Conclusion This is the fifth heading in the report.
The conclusion is a general statement which sums up what has been found out. For example: The Christmas Enterprise Fayre this year was a great success. Ninety percent of learners received an OCN qualification and 100 per cent of learners made a profit on their stall.

8 Recommendations This is the sixth and final heading in the report, if recommendations have been asked for. The Recommendations are the actions you are suggesting should take place bearing in mind your conclusion. For example: The following recommendations are made (1)To continue running the Christmas Enterprise Fayre at CACHS.
