5 There will be an optional 5-10 minute working snack during Core 4. Only HEALTHY food items are permitted: dry, non-messy snacks No wet foods, drinks, nut products, or foods that have been exposed to nuts. Snacks will not be permitted near the laptops. Those with medical reasons, of course, will be exempt from this and will have snack when necessary.

Your child is responsible for checking the Wiki afterschool and completing homework on time. How to find the 4 th Grade Wiki

7 Homework is expected to be completed on time, and brought to class during class time. A missed assignment = a responsibility card Three missed assignments in one class = detention

8 Detention is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays immediately after school. A form, signed by the teacher and principal, will be sent home with the student in advance of a detention, with the detention date and cause. Parents are responsible for the student’s transportation home from detention.

9 Illness Students who are absent, due to illness, have one day for each day they are absent to complete missed work. We encourage your child to check the Wiki when home sick and complete what they can. Vacation Work is not given in advance for absences due to vacation. Please refer to the Student Handbook. Bringing books on your trip and checking the Wiki for assignments will help your child keep up with missed curriculum. Note: Student may have difficulty completing these assignments and may need instruction before being able to successful complete the work.

Students are more likely to persevere in the face of challenge when they view struggle as a necessary and a valued part of learning rather than a sign of personal failure. Students should view challenges and mistakes as inevitable parts of learning. They need a lot of strategies to help them persevere through difficulties.

13 There will be at least one online assignment per week, in Math. Xtramath is 5 days a week for now. All students are expected to complete online homework assignments on time. Students with internet problems, may come in to school early, with a signed permission slip, to use the computers in a supervised setting.

15 Volunteers will be needed for our trip on October 21 st and 22 nd. At least 50 volunteer are needed for this year’s class – more would be great! The volunteers can be parents, grandparents, or other responsible family members over age 18. Volunteers will need to report to ShopRite between 8:30 and 8:45 AM until approximately 12:00 PM on the day of the field trip. On the day of the trip, volunteers will receive training and assignments. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the Volunteer Form on Genesis and return to your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible. Your involvement will make the Young Consumer Day a huge success!
