8   Ptolemaic/Geocentric Theory- earth is the center of the galaxy - other planets revolve around it.  Things get more perfect the closer they get to Heaven THEN CAME… Pre-Scientific Revolution

9   Heliocentric Theory- sun is the center of the universe (Copernicus). -Imperfect heavenly bodies (Galileo); (bye, bye Aristotle’s crystal spheres) -Dominated by reason, natural laws (Newton’s 3 laws of motion) -Watchmaker (Deist) God Scientific Revolution

10   Copernicus-Heliocentric Theory  Galileo- telescope: planets were actually imperfect spheres (disproves old Aristotle’s views).  Newton- calculus and gravity prove new theory Kepler- 3 laws of planetary motion: planets move in elliptical, not circular orbits.
