4 Cardiovascular Endurance Cardiovascular Endurance is the ability to do activities that require increased oxygen.

5 Muscular Strength Muscular Strength is the ability to use your muscles to perform various activities.

6 Muscular Endurance Muscular Endurance is the ability to use muscular strength over a set period of time.

7 Flexibility Flexibility is the ability to bend and move the joints through a full range of motion.

8 Body Composition Body Composition is the % of body fat compared to the % of lean muscle tissue.

9 All of these components should be included in your personal fitness plan.

10 Why the Need for Physical Fitness Testing?  5 components of physical fitness represent how fit and healthy the body is as a whole.  When you have the battery of tests performed you will receive information on the specific areas you made need to work in.  A very specific goal oriented fitness program can be developed from the test battery.

11 Why the Need for Fitness Testing It is important to combine healthy eating habits with your exercise program.  What would happen if you scored low on your cardiovascular test?  High risk of heart related illnesses  Would not do well with lengthy activities  What would happen if you scored low on your flexibility test?  Decreased performance in daily living activities  Low back pain

16 Examples of Cardiovascular Endurance Activities Any activity that you perform for 15 minutes or more that makes your heart rate increase significantly. Jogging Bicycling Jump roping Step Aerobics Swimming

17 Body Composition is a result of the amount of exercise that you participate in on a regular basis and your diet.

18 Are You Fit? We've all seen people who can run a marathon, but couldn't lift a feather. On the other hand, many bodybuilders can't run for 5 minutes without being exhausted! If we take the 5 components of physical fitness into account, neither of these individuals are considered physically fit. The best bet for optimal health and total physical fitness is to try to incorporate all 5 of these components into your workout.
