2 Objective: Students will be able to safely traverse the halls when it is appropriate for them to be in the hall. Essential questions: Why is it important to be safe in the halls and on the sidewalks? What behaviors do you and other students need to correct in order to be safe?

3 Do Now Make the following t chart on your paper. Begin to fill in the problems you observe in the hall and on the side walk Problems observed PRIDE solution

4 Grouping activity Form a group of 5 with people who all have a different letter than you do Form a word with your 5 letters NO TALKING UNTIL EVERYONE HAS A GROUP Sit with your new group

5 Following the letters of the word you made, take turns sharing what problems you identified

6 Purpose The purpose of the hallway and sidewalks is to walk quickly and quietly from on place to another. ◦Walk at an appropriate pace ◦Don’t stop ◦Stay to the right

7 Respect Follow directions from teachers Don’t tamper with posters or other items on the walls Pick up trash, even if it is not yours Be in dress code ◦Hats ◦Earbuds Stay on the sidewalk

8 Integrity Only in hall when appropriate Valid hall pass if not during passing period No peeking in windows or open doors to get a friends attention Go directly to your destination and return promptly

9 Dilligence Know your surroundings, report anything suspicious such as people who should not be in the halls and broken items

10 Ettiquite be considerate of others don’t walk 5 across, pick up trash you may see even if it is not yours, pay attention to what is in front of you, look up from texting, don’t stop and congregate, no running, stay on the sidewalks, be polite and considerate, be in dress code ◦Dress code includes hats, earbuds, skirts, tank tops, ID’s, sunglasses, etc.

13 Exit ticket Don’t break the bank: Each word cost $0.10. Spend between $2.50 and $3.50 to answer the essential question EQ: Why is it important to be safe in the halls and on the sidewalks? What behaviors do you and other students need to correct in order to be safe?
