2 Monday, August 11 th Bellwork Welcome PBS Lessons Get-to-Know-You Syllabus & Supplies Homework: Get supplies and look forward to a good week!

3 Bellwork Welcome to room 303! Make sure you are in the right place: Class: Language Arts Teacher: K. Rainer Room 303 Find the desk with your name on it (next to the 3 for 3 rd period). Get out your planner, your schedule, and a pen or pencil.

4 Tuesday, August 12 th Bellwork—Poem of the WeekPoem of the Week Team-Building Activity Discuss procedures Receive predator passes and homework passes Get-to-know-you PBS Review Homework: Get supplies and get procedures sheet signed

5 Tuesday’s Bellwork Pick up your nametag (from the trunk) and pick up a copy of the poem “Did I Miss Anything?” and have a seat in the same place as yesterday. Read the poem to yourself two or three times. Answer the questions at the bottom of the poem. Be prepared to talk about the poem and your answers.

8 Wednesday Bellwork There are pads of paper shaped like footballs, baseballs, and basketballs on the grey table. Pick up ONE of the pieces of paper and a marker and write your name (very neatly) on it. This is part of our hallway decorations. Pick up your nametag and have a seat (same seats). Thanks!

9 Lit Book Scavenger Hunt Fill out the answers with your partner. One person should be the recorder; the other person should be in charge of handling the book. At each station, stop and read the questions on the card (share the card with other groups), use the textbook to answer the question, and write the answer in the blanks provided.

10 Binders Keep your syllabus and Class Rules and Procedures in the front of your binder Vocabulary & Grammar Poetry SAT/ARMT Practice Weekly Reading Skill & DOL Literature Units & Writing

11 Thursday, August 14 th Bellwork Good Readers Discussion Take notes Take notes for a quiz next week! Reading: Begin Fiction/Non-fiction Unit Homework: Bring in important book tomorrow

12 Bellwork Find the “Important Book and Personal Literary Histories” sheet from yesterday. Read the bottom section and brainstorm a few experiences that you could list. Begin jotting them down on the paper. At least two of your answers should be positive experiences.
