5. GOING DIGITAL? Freedom is becoming a digital school. What does that mean? We aren’t going completely paperless, but we are drastically cutting down on the paper we use. Most homework assignments will be sent by email, or can be found on my website. We are also incorporating digital technology into the curriculum as much as possible.

7. Communication All of you should have the magnet with my communication details. (If you don’t please let me know). District 11 policy is that staff will return email or phone messages within 24 hours. If you need to get a hold of me before that, please call the front office (228-0800) and they will get in touch with me. I don’t answer my phone or emails when I am with students.

10. Nuts and Bolts: Homework/communication notebooks. Kids will write down their homework, and then complete it in that notebook. If you have a message for me, this is a great place to write it. I will be checking these in the mornings. The assignments will also be on my Sharepoint website. Please send a HEALTHY snack with you child every day. The kids only have 10 minutes to eat their snacks. I don’t mind if the kids bring water bottles. However they must be the type that the lid doesn’t have to come off in order to drink. If they leak, or become a distraction for learning, they will have to be kept by the sink instead of their seats. As you know, living in Colorado Springs is tricky when it comes to the weather. Conditions can change rapidly and it is very windy on the top playground. Send a jacket with your student every day as we get into fall.

11. More Nuts and Bolts Class DoJo: I will be using Class Dojo as a communication tool. This will give you an insight to your child’s school day. It can also serve as a springboard for conversations with your kids. I will send information this week. Volunteers: I am happy to have some help in the classroom during the week. We will also go on a few field trips (fingers crossed) that will require chaperones. Note: when you are in the classroom or on a field trip expect to work with all the students in the class. Email me with your available days and times.
