3 To open Word, click on the W in the dock.

4 Next, the Project Gallery will open up. We are looking for a word document.

5 There is the Word Document. Click

6 That will open up a New Document. It will say Document 1 at the top of the new document.

7 If you are already in WORD, you will see the word WORD next to the blue apple in the menu bar.

8 The menu bar is always found at the top of the screen.

9 Here is the pull-down menu under File. We will select New Blank Document.

10 In the document you will see a blinking line called the cursor. To type in different areas of the screen, you need to move the cursor. You can move the cursor with the arrow keys, or with the mouse.

11 Leaves Red leaves and yellow leaves Orange leaves and brown, Leaves are dancing everywhere Happily dancing down. Here is one way to highlight. Put the cursor in front of the word or sentence to be highlighted. Hold the SHIFT key while clicking the arrow key over the word or sentence.

13 Here are your choices for alignment. Let’s zoom in for a closer look.

14 These are alignment buttons. There are four alignment buttons. This left alignment button will give you a solid left margin.

15 These are alignment buttons. There are four alignment buttons. This center alignment button will center everything. Use center alignment when typing in a title.

16 When we click once on the word Edit, a list of choices is shown in the pull-down menu.

17 Here is the pull-down menu under Edit.

18 We will select Select All.

19 These are the Standard and Formatting Toolbars.

20 Experiment with the font size.

23 Here is the pull-down menu to change the font color. Let’s zoom in and take a closer look!

24 Here is the font color pull-down menu. Click on a color box to select a color.

25 Word will alert you when you have misspelled a word. Anything underlined in red is misspelled.

26 To fix spelling errors, use the tool called Spelling and Grammar Check. It is located under Tools in the menu bar.

27 Find the word Tools on the menu bar.

28 Here is the pull-down menu under Tools.

29 Select the first item: Spelling and Grammar…

30 A Spelling and Grammar window will open up for you.

31 The Spelling and Grammar Tool will help you edit your document one word at a time.

32 Here is the first misspelled word. It is always given in a red font.

33 Here is the Suggestions box. Word suggests the correct spelling, t-o-d-a-y.

34 To choose the suggestion, select the button marked - Change.

35 There are four Suggestions. The first suggestion is the one I want so I will select the button marked - Change.

36 There are five Suggestions. The first suggestion is the one I want so I will select the button marked - Change.

37 There are many Suggestions. The first suggestion is NOT correct.

38 The second suggestion is correct. I select it and press the Change button.

39 The suggestions are document or documents. I select the first option and press the Change button.

40 All the words in my first sentence are are now spelled correctly. Now Word wants to check the grammar in that first sentence.

41 Word is alerting you to a Capitalization error. Grammar alerts are always in green.

42 To take Word’s suggestion, select the Change button.

43 Now Word will begin fixing the second sentence. Misspelled words are always in red.

44 The first suggestion is the one I want, so I will press the Change button.

45 The first suggestion is NOT correct.

46 The third suggestion is the one I want. I will press the Change button.

47 The first suggestion is NOT correct.

48 The second suggestion is correct. I will press the Change button.

49 The suggestion is correct. I will press the Change button.

50 Now Word wants to check the grammar of the second sentence. Grammar is always in green.

51 Word is alerting you to a Capitalization error.

52 To take Word’s suggestion, select the Change button.

53 You may have noticed that to is incorrect. Two is spelled correctly, but it is the wrong kind of to.

54 Word noticed that error, too!

55 Word is suggesting that you make spell into a plural noun.

56 We do NOT want it to be changed to a plural noun. What should we press?

57 We will press Ignore.

58 Pressing Ignore will leave the word the way you typed it.

59 What should we do with the two?

60 Answer: Highlight the word two.

61 Then type the word you want. We will type the word to, t-o.

62 This document is now completely correct and ready to print.

63 We are not going to print our document today.

64 Today we are going to learn how to Spell Check a document.

65 These two sentences will be on your desktop.

66 Go to Tools and begin fixing the Spelling and Grammar.

67 Press Change to select the suggestion. Press Ignore to skip the suggestion.
