1 George Washington By Cameron Barnes

2 George Washington beginning  In May Washington went to the Second Continental Congress in a military uniform indicating he was dress for battle. He was appointed Major General and commander-in- chief of the colonial forces.  He was picked because he had military expriences, charisma and he was advertising congress.

3 The Dark time  The darkest time for Washington and the continental army was in 1777 at Valley Forge. The force went into winter quarters and nearly thousands of men died that time, but the army was still in good condition.

4 The End of the War  The last battle in the war was in Yorktown were the continental army won the battle and the war. After the war George Washington said good bye to the troops but that wasn’t the end of his legacy afterwards he ran for and became the first president of the United States.

5 Retirement and Death  After Washington decided to retire he went back to Mount Vernon in spring 1797. Since he was gone for a long time the plantation needed to be work on. In December 1799, Washington spent his time inspecting the farm during a snowstorm. When he returned home he ate his supper in his wet clothes and went to bed. During the night he would wake up with a fever and he would tell his wife that he was not feeling well. And in the late evening of December 14,1799 George Washington died of illness.
