The Person  Introduce the individual that you will be discussing.  What were the beliefs of that person?  CONTEXT: A brief outline that gives the reader some information about why the person is seen as influential. (why, what, when, where).  THESIS statement that informs the reader/audience about the main points that you will be discussing.

8 Beliefs and Actions How did the individual use his or her beliefs and actions to influence society and make an impact on events or those in power? BODY PARAGRAPHS 2 & 3 Examples of how the person put their beliefs into actions to influence people, events etc.  Point/Topic sentence to set up the idea of the paragraph  Evidence: Details with examples to support the idea.  Explain: Using your examples to show how they support your point/topic sentence.  Link or Transition to lead into following body paragraph.

9 The nature of power, control and influence. What are the criteria for leadership and influence? What level of power and influence did the person have? How did he or she gain and maintain their power and influence? BODY PARAGRAPH 4 Discuss and analyse the nature of leadership in terms of power, control and influence. Think about… The characteristics and skills needed to be an effective leader. How or why, as individuals, they are able to influence others. How their own behaviour and actions enabled them to maintain their position as a powerful and influential individual. How an effective leader responds towards those that are in power. How does an effective leader ‘win over’ those people against whom the protests are being made.

10 Conclusion How much control did he or she have over others? How much control did others have over that person? Legacy – the lasting effects…. Concluding thoughts…  The first part should refer back to the thesis statement.  Refer to how much impact the person really had on events and how much influence they really had on society or some sections of society.  How much power or influence society, events or those in power have over the individual?  The legacy of the person. Does he/she still inspire or influence others today (or in recent times)?  Would their style of leadership or behaviours be relevant today?
