10  Pass your essay to the right  Look at the essay in front of you. On the blank page, write [1]  Read through the paper once – no writing utensil in hand  Read through the paper again, evaluating the position. Rotation One

11 1. Does the paper contain a strong and clear thesis? What is the thesis? 2. Does the introduction contain all necessary background information to understand the thesis? 3. Does the author clearly connect their thesis to the main points and, subsequently, to evidence? 4. Does the conclusion reinforce the author’s thesis? 5. Are there smooth transitions between paragraphs, ideas, pieces of evidence? 4. Does the author explicitly address and/or analyze every piece of evidence they use? 5. 15 1. Is the syntax and sentence structure appropriate for an essay format? 2. Circle any typos or grammatical errors 3. Indicate to the author any awkward sentences, fragments, or phrases 4. 16  Pass your paper back to its author.  Read over the comments on your paper. Write notes to yourself for what revisions you need to make.  If there’s time, begin applying these revisions to your paper. You have your paper back!

17  On a sticky note, write five things (big or small) you need to change about your paper and stick it to the front  Tell someone next to you what you need to do and how you plan to do it. Reflection

18  Etiquette  Audience feedback. Take out 2-3 pages of notebook paper. Write your name at the top.  For each presenter write their name, topic, argument, one strength of their presentation/paper, and one question you have about their presentation/paper  With your graded midterm you will receive peer presentation feedback Presentations
