Who is Armstrong? We're a small-to-medium size university library in Savannah, GA primarily using ILLiad. Odyssey is our preferred method for sending articles, followed by Article Exchange, email, ARIEL and snail mail.

Why we love Article Exchange A--It’s free! B--Doesn't need proprietary software like ARIEL. C--Sends multiple file types up to 60 MB. D--Allows electronic delivery of articles to libraries who can't afford Clio, ARIEL or ILLiad, or have limits on their email systems. E--It's secure and temporary.

How do we use it? Articles are scanned within Odyssey using an OptiBook PlusTek 4600 and saved as PDFs to a shared drive. Then we use the add-on in ILLiad to upload them and send an Gmail notification to the borrowing library. Doesn’t require much additional training beyond using ILLiad.

Where can I get more information? Documentation for ILLiad libraries is available here: https://prometheus.atlas- sys.com/display/ILLiadAddons/ILLiad+Addons General information is on OCLC's site here: http://www.oclc.org/us/en/resourcesharing/features/ articleexchange/default.htm OCLC also offers free online classes to learn about Article Exchange. https://prometheus.atlas- sys.com/display/ILLiadAddons/ILLiad+Addons http://www.oclc.org/us/en/resourcesharing/features/ articleexchange/default.htm

Here too….. Use the ILL-L listserv. We’re a chatty bunch, and love to help. http://listserv.oclc.org/archives/ill-l.htmlhttp://listserv.oclc.org/archives/ill-l.html ILLiad libraries can use the Workflowtoolkit-l list: http://mail.geneseo.edu/mailman/listinfo/workflowtool kit-l

Limitations of the system If using Gmail, it puts the ILLiad Transaction Number in the email instead of the ILL number. Works better in a smaller environment as a primary method of sending articles. If there is a problem it doesn't have an error message to tell you what's wrong.
