2 Imagery The formation of mental images, figures, or likenesses of things, or of such images collectivel. Examples From the family tree of old school hip hop Kick off your shoes and relax your socks The rhymes will spread just like a pox Cause the music is live like an electric shock.

3 Irony The use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning Examples. Yet Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man“ Water, water, every where, And all the boards did shrink ; Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink

4 Analogy A similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based. Writing a book of poetry is like dropping a rose petal down the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo." Glove is to hand as monitor is to computer.

Alliteration is the genus, whereas, assonance and consonance are the species Examples Sweet smell of success, a dime a dozen, bigger and better, jump for joy. And sings a solitary song That whistles in the wind.
