Applications – company documents that give the employers facts about you that can be kept on file Basic information on education, skills, work history, and references Even if you have a resume and interview, you should expect to fill out an application

You ability to follow directions You ability to hold a job Your achievements Your thoughtfulness Did you answer all questions? Don’t leave any blanks (draw a line or write “N/A”)

Gather the information and materials you will need. (much will be on your resume) Pens (blue or black) and paper clips You current address and Social Security number Educational information (names, dates, diplomas) Work record (names, address, phone number, dates, responsibilities, wages, names of supervisors, positive reasons for leaving) Business and operation skills list Names of certificates, license, professional organizations, honors, achievements that could put you ahead references (names, job title, company name, address, phone #) Copies of your resume and cover letter. Paper clip to competed application

Follow directions If possible, use fountain pen (blue or black) If you do not have a phone number, arrange a number where a message can be left to write down Employees with little work experience should put “starting wage” under salary desired. (Negotiable) No abbreviations Draw a line and write N/A to show your read the section but does not apply Keep your reasons for leaving a past job positive.
