BY ANNE, CHLOE, BETHANY, AND MADISON Body Paragraph 3

First Sentence Starts off with a topic sentence. This Introduces your 3rd point. It should be similar to your thesis, but only focus on your 3 rd topic. Example: A third special challenge involved with the environment of space involves the fact that it is very difficult to find life- sustaining water off the Earth.

Middle The middle 3-5 sentences should support point 3. You should elaborate on the point more than you did in the introduction. This is called supporting evidence. Example: For example, the planet Mercury, which is closest to the Sun, is too hot to have water, so space travelers must take water from Earth if they want to visit Mercury. A similar situation exists on the planet Venus, second from the Sun. This planet is likewise too hot for water to exist.

Conclusion Your conclusion sentence should sum up the 3rd argument. Example: Similarly, the fourth planet, Mars, is too cold and dry, although there may be some water frozen at the north and south poles of the planet.

Questions 1. How many sentences should the middle be? 2. What is the first sentence? 3. What should the last sentence conclude?

Answers 1. The middle should be 3-5 sentences. 2. The first sentence is a transitional opening sentence. 3. The last sentence should restate what you said in the 3-5 middle sentences.
