7. Renunciations of the wicked: 32a, “For the devious are an abomination to the LORD.” 33a, “The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked.” 34a, “He scoffs at the scoffers.” 35b, “Fools display dishonor.”

8. Blessings for the righteous: 32b, “He is intimate with the upright.” 33b, “He blesses the dwelling of the righteous.” 34b, “He gives grace to the afflicted.” 35a, “The wise will inherit honor.”

9. Vs. 33a, MEERAH, ‏מְאֵרָה “Curse”, expresses Divine judgment upon the wicked. Deut 28:20; Prov 3:33; 28:27; Mal 2:2; 3:9

10. For the unbeliever it is the punitive judgment of God, but for the reversionistic believer it is Divine Discipline.

11. Vs. 34a, “He scoffs at the scoffers.” God’s relation to men is determined by their relation to Him.

12. Principles: 1. Scoffers are unable to learn from the warnings, reproof or punishment of those who are more wise, Prov 9:7f; 13:1; 14:6; 15:12; 19:25.

18. God’s scoffing: As long as the scoffers continue to reject Him, He rejects them by not being able to bless them, Cf. Prov 3:34b, and instead brings judgment upon them.

19. Grace is always available to the scoffers, but if they do not receive it, it is worthless to them and not given to them.

20. Vs. 35b, The person minus Bible Doctrine in their life keeps on causing shame, disgrace, and dishonor to rise up in their life.

21. Principles: 1. The devious and wicked have “turned aside,” withhold good, attack their neighbors without cause, and seek to gain by violence.

22. As a result, they lie under the judgment of God, vs. 33a, who condemns, vs. 32a, and pronounces Divine Judgment or Discipline upon them, vs. 33a.

23. 2. To fail to seek out and obey the positive side of these prohibitions is to call down His judgment upon oneself.

24. “What Brings Shame.”

25. “What Brings Shame.” A. Loving the things of this world. Psa 4:2

26. Psa 4:2, “O sons of men, how long will My honor be turned into shame? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah.”

28. 1 John 2:15, “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

29. B. Living Foolishly, absence of Bible Doctrine in your life. Prov 3:35

30. God lets fools entangle themselves in their folly in a way for all to see their shame and dishonor.

31. C. Licentiousness or Adultery. Prov 6:32-33

32. D. Lecturing or Reproving a Scoffer. Prov 9:7 This is not a bad shame, but one we are instructed by the Word of God to avoid.

33. E. Laziness and Irresponsibility. Prov 10:5 Cf. Prov 24:30-34
