Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.— Amen.

Memory Verse John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”

John 15 Chapter Outline “What to do with God's provisions.”

Two Main Sections: 1) The parable of the vine, vinedresser and branches in vs. 1-11, with its commentary in vs. 12-17.

Two Main Sections: 2) A warning regarding the hatred of the world towards the believer in vs. 18-27.

Jesus is the source of spiritual vitality and fruitfulness. We remain “in Him” experientially by positive volition to His mandates, vs. 1-17.

Those who are without salvation, residing inside Satan’s Cosmic System, will hate Christ’s disciples even as the KOSMOS hated Jesus, vs. 18-27.

Nevertheless, the Spirit resident in the believer will testify about The Christ to the world, vs. 26-27.

Without Jesus positionally and experientially, we can do nothing, yet with Him we can do all things.

Three relationships that are part of every believer’s experience:

Three relationships that are part of every believer’s experience: 1) Relationship with God, (Jesus and the Father), vs. 1-11.

2) Relationship with other believers, vs. 12-17.

2) Relationship with other believers, vs. 12-17. 3) Relationship with the indifferent and hostile world of nonbelievers, vs. 18-27.

Some of the highlighted themes of this chapter which we will explore include;

1) Experiencing our union with Christ: Vine and branches. cf Rom 6:1-14

2) The Vine. In the O.T. a metaphor for Israel and fruit for righteous living. Here Jesus supersedes; He is the True Vine that provides nourishment, not Israel.

3) The Vinedresser. Identifying the Father’s role in our spiritual walk as a loving parent to keep us experientially in His righteousness.

4) Removal and Pruning, vs. 2 & 6. Divine discipline for the reversionistic believer and underserved suffering to promote spiritual growth for the positive believer.

5) Prayer, vs. 7. Being attune to His leading, and praying in His will. cf 1 John 5:14-15

6) Glorifying God vs. 8. By doing His will, bearing fruit, Divine good production.

7) Love each other, vs. 12-17, 27. The key to AGAPE Love is “obedience” to God’s Word and Plan. cf. 1 John 2:3-11

8) Chosen, vs. 16. The believer is the elect of God.

9) The world’s hatred towards the believer, vs. 18-27. This hostility is rooted in the world’s failure to know God, vs. 21, 24.
