3 Review: proper nouns  Person: Mrs. Mack, Barack Obama  Place: Malvern, Pennsylvania, Mars  Thing: Toy Story 3, The Hunger Games  Idea: English, Spanish

4 Review: parts of a sentence SUBJECTPREDICATE noun (proper or common) verb (action, linking, or helping) or pronoun Who or what? What about it? He smiles. Autumn leaves twirl gently to the ground. The park district will open a public pool soon.

5 Review: Direct Object tells who/what receives the action of the verb The teacher chose several books for the Literature Circles. (chose what?) Which students were given a treat? (were given what?) I love Suzanne Collins! (love whom?)

6 Review: Prepositional Phrases Preposition-word that RELATES a noun or pronoun to some other word in a sentence above on by near with to Prepositional Phrase-GROUP of words beginning with a preposition and ending with a noun or pronoun above the tree on its side by them near that girl with me to you

7 Review: Prepositional Phrases Object of the Preposition-noun or pronoun at the end of the phrase to which the preposition refers above the tree on its side by them near that girl with me to you

8 Review: Prepositional Phrases Find the prepositional phrase. Identify the preposition and its object. Did you see her at the game? The line starts behind him. I will see you at the movies! After the dance, we ordered pizza.

9 Nouns: subject and object Use the following nouns in a sentence as a subject. Then use the nouns as an object. Ball Subject: The ball flew over the fence. Object: Please throw the ball. (throw what?) Vacation Subject: A vacation is just what I need. Object: I really need a long vacation!(need what?)

12 Nouns: subject and object YOUR TURN-Create sentences… Use the singular form of WOMAN as the subject. Use the plural form of WOMAN as the direct object. Use the plural form of WOMAN as the object of the preposition.
