5 11/18/2015 4 Treaty of Versailles: A Review A) It officially ended the First World War. B) Its main focus was to punish Germany 1. Germany had to admit blame for starting WW1 2. Had to pay “reparations” 3. Germany was punished in other ways (will discuss today). C) Germany obeyed it during the years before Hitler became leader.
