2 DESCRIPTORS NEW A The student demonstrates achievement of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. B The student demonstrates achievement of most of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. C The student demonstrates achievement of some of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. D The student demonstrates achievement of few of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. OLD A The student consistently demonstrates achievement of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. The student’s work may exceed program expectations. B The student demonstrates achievement of most of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. The student's work meets program expectations. C. The student demonstrates achievement of some of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. The student's work approaches program expectations. D The student rarely demonstrates achievement of the expected learning outcomes addressed during the current reporting period. The student’s work does not meet program expectations.

3 LET’S BEGIN GRADEBOOK Log in to PowerTeacher, just like you do for attendance On the left hand side click on GradeBook Scroll all the way down Click on Launch PowerTeacher GradeBook YOU WILL NEED JAVA TO MAKE IT WORK, if you need to down load it do so here http://www.java.com (At home you can use Mac or PC) On my computer at home I had to press run java, then re press Launch PowerTeacher GradeBook http://www.java.com

9 LEARNER PROFILE To fill in learner profiles click on Final Grades

10 By moving the cursor over a category you can see the full description or you can double click on it to see it.

11 To assign a grade move the cursor over a white or blue rectangle then right click then choose a grade: consistently, usually, prompt, or rarely

12 To assign the same grade to all complete the particular grade for one student then again move the cursor over a white or blue rectangle then right click then choose fill scores.

13 You will have two options This means that you can first put some in with a particular grade, such as Prompts, then begin this process with one student as Consistently then by choosing this option the rest will be Consistently. This option means as it says, so if you have put in some grades it will override what you have put in TWO OPTIONS

14 To Assign a Grade Click on particular subject Click on first column Right click chose a grade A, B, C, D To Assign a Grade Click on a particular subject Click on the first column Right click chose a grade A, B, C, D (For IPP the comment comes first then grade) ASSIGN A LETTER GRADE

15 You will have two options This means that you can first put some in with a particular grade, such as B, then begin this process with one student as A then by choosing this option the rest will be A, but your original Bs will stay. This option means as it says, so if you have put in some letter grades it will override what you have put in TWO OPTIONS

16 Click on the column to the right of the letter grade (In math it is the 7 th column) Right click on particular student, chose Show Comment Inspector This box will comment up, make sure My Comment Bank is chosen Double click on the particular comment then click on Insert Selected then click close This symbol will appear in the column indicating that you have a comment for that subject for that student ASSIGN A COMMENT

17 You will have two options This means that you can first put some in with a particular comment then begin this process with one student with a particular comment then by choosing this option the rest will be that same comment. This option means as it says, so if you have put in some comments it will override what you have put in TWO OPTIONS

18 Click on the column to the right of the letter grade Right click on particular student, chose Fill Comments This box will comment up, make sure My Comment Bank is chosen Double click on the particular comment then click on Insert Selected then click close This symbol will appear in the column indicating that you have a comment for that subject for all student ASSIGN THE SAME COMMENT

19 YES YOU CAN! You can assign all students the same comment in a subject, but then go back and change one or more students to add individual comments.

20 CREATE YOUR COMMENT BANK At homeroom attendance or any subject click on tools then preferences

21 Click add, copy and then paste your comment from Word

22 WORD TIP To replace your current smart tags choose edit click on replace In the Find what box put an old smart tag such as He1 In the Replace with box put the coresponding new smart tag such as Repeat above steps until all your comments have the new smart tags
