2 Task 1 Criteria 1.1 Explain the roles of 3 different sources of information about jobs and explain how they support job seekers

Possible sources of information; (sources that provide a personalised service to job seekers) Employment agencies Job centres (sources that provide basic information about job opportunities) Magazines Newspapers Public notice boards Journals and publications (Other sources) Word of mouth

4 Task 1 Criteria 1.1 – Exemplar answer
Job centres can give personalised service to job seekers. They support you by looking at your CV and helping you with interview skills. You can get extra training to help you get a job and will give you advice on jobs that are suited to your experience and qualifications.

5 Task 2 Criteria 1.2 Choose two sources of information that you will use to search for a job and say why you have chosen them.

Possible sources of information; Employment agencies Job centres Magazines Newspapers Public notice boards Journals and publications Word of mouth Reason why may be a suitable source; the choice of source could limit or widen the type and number of job vacancies searched for eg using the internet versus using a local job notice board; some sources of employment are specialised or specific to particular job types eg industry publications, trade journals, specialised recruitment agencies; differences between employment conditions in different sectors eg working conditions, salary and benefits, terms of employment, ethics and values of the organisation

7 Task 2 Criteria 1.2 – Exemplar answer
I will use the newspaper to look for jobs because it will advertise a wide variety of jobs that are specific to my local area. The newspaper will be easy to search through and I can give me some ideas of the type of jobs available.

8 Task 3 Criteria 1.3 Using two different source of information, find two suitable job roles for you. The job roles you find must be matched to your skills and interests.

I found a Christmas temp job for Boots in Pontypridd advertised in the newspaper.

10 Task 4 Criteria 2.1 For each of the job roles chosen in task 3, you must explain why your own skills make it a suitable role for you.

I have good communication which means I would be able to speak to customers clearly and listen to their questions carefully when serving them. This will mean that I will be more efficient in helping them find what it is they are looking for. I also have good numeracy skills which I can use when working on the tills to process payments and handle money. These skills will make me suitable for the christmas temp job in Boots.

12 Task 4 Criteria 2.2 For each of the job roles chosen in Task 3, you must explain how your own interests are relevant to each role.

I have an interest in beauty and use my own interest to help customers choose what to buy. By having an interest in the products they sell I will also be able to be enthusiastic about my job and this will help me sell to customers.

14 Task 4 Criteria 2.3 For each of the job roles chosen in Task 3, you must explain how your own achievements are relevant to each role.

15 Task 4 Criteria 2.3 – Exemplar answer
I have achieved a compact award which shows that I am a good attender and punctual at all times. This will be relevant to my role because I will be working shifts and will need to turn up on time to them. I have achieved good grades in maths and am on track to achieve a c grade in the summer. This is relevant to the role because I will be able to use my qualification to work out payments that I need to make and calculate percentages and discounts for offers that are on.

17 Task 5 Criteria 3.1 Print off evidence of the following
• copies of job advertisements, • printouts from websites, • evidence of interviews with employment agencies, • Connexions, • a careers adviser (Ms. M. James), • Job Centre

18 Task 6 Criteria 3.2 Collect evidence that you have contacted employers to request information on a job.

19 Task 6 Criteria 3.2 Collect evidence of a; Letter E-mail
Your letter / must be written in a formal manner and ask suitable questions about the job being applied for
