2 Historical Review On August 11, 2008, Dr. Rigell discussed and recommended a pilot program that established a 9- week grading period for grades 4-9 during the 2008- 09 school year. This recommendation was supported by the administrative staff and Athens Education Association. An evaluation of the pilot program and a report will be presented to the Board of Education in April of 2009 This recommendation was approved by the Board of Education on a motion from Mrs. Boyd and a second by Mr. Nelson.

3 The Survey Used to Evaluate the “Pilot Program” Athens City School District is evaluating the 2008-09 “Pilot Program” for Reporting Student Progress in Grades 4-9. Thank you for completing this important survey. The goal of reporting student progress on a 9 week schedule instead of a 6 week schedule is to allow students more time to correct/improve their grades before the report card grades are finalized. 4 Survey Results Reporting Report to BOE Completed by Dianna Calfee For Dr. Rigell Teachers survey students. Teachers tabulate student results. Teachers give surveys and results to Principal. Teachers send parent survey home Teachers collect parent surveys and give to principal Principals survey teachers. Principals tabulate teacher results. Principals give all completed surveys and tabulated results to designated AEA member. Principals collect completed parent survey from teachers. Principals give completed parent surveys to AEA member for tabulation Designated AEA member will collect student and teacher surveys with tabulations from principals.
