2 Hinduism – A Brief History Based in India No official founder Some beliefs as much as 4,000 years old Belief in Brahman Vedic period produced the Vedic texts All Hindus recognize the authority of the Vedas Emphasized one set of gods while the later Upanishads emphasized another Upanishads (600 BCE) introduced reincarnation and karma Most Hindus worship one or several gods while believing ultimately in Brahman.
