2 CERT’s History, Goals & Activities History: –Established since 1984; –Approved by the UNC System as a Center in 2001; –Committed to the recruitment, retention and training of talented students from under represented communities and preparing them for challenging careers in energy related areas. Mission/Goals: –Adopt a competency based research agenda –Facilitate the application of energy related technologies to buildings –Collaborate with the building industry –Provide practical education, research and training opportunities for students –Develop University wide relationships with public and private sectors Activities: –Research –Outreach and Extension, and –Educational Focus
