3 Outline (2/2) Essential system parameters and system configuration information –This includes a minimal set of time critical system configuration information and parameters needed for the mobile station (AMS) to complete access (system acquisition). In this contribution, we provide more details for information contents transmitted carried on the BCH (PBCH and SBCH)

5 PBCH (2/5) Configuration information of sub-SBCHs –Scheduling information of sub-SBCHs Indicate sub-SBCH type to be transmitted within the super- frame No frequency-domain resource allocation information present –AMSs are able to estimate the length of each sub-SBCH. –Example) if sub-SBCH 1 and 3 are transmitted, Sub- SBCH1 Sub- SBCH2 Sub- SBCH3 Sub- SBCH4 Sub- SBCH5 Sub- SBCH6 101000

6 PBCH (3/5) Configuration information of sub-SBCHs –Change count Increase by 1 only when one or more sub-SBCHs (sub- SBCH1~4) change within the super-frame –Change toggle bitmap Indicate the changed sub-SBCH type 1~4 –No need to assign change toggle bitmaps for sub-SBCH 5, 6 »sub-SBCH5: Paging indication »sub-SBCH6: SI of additional broadcast information If sub-SBCH 1 and 4 change, 1010 0011 toggle

7 PBCH (4/5) Decode PBCH Difference between previous CC and current CC in PBCH Not decode any sub-SBCH Check Toggle bitmap in the received PBCH and Toggle bitmap stored at MS Decode all sub-SBCHs CC difference is larger than 1 Decode sub-SBCHs for the corresponding toggle bits Updating for the BCH –Overall procedure CC difference is 1 CC difference is 0
