Introduction DL to UL Ratio –Should be aligned between adjacent cells –Static configuration Mixed Ratio between 16e and 16m Sub-Frames –Can be different between adjacent cells –Dynamic and semi-static according to 16e and 16m loading Current Relative Timing btw. 16e and 16m Frames –Variable relative timing –Different starting point of 16m super-frame according to the mixed ratio between 16e and 16m sub-frames During handover procedures, there may be ambiguity problem in synchronization and acquisition of broadcasting information which should be located at the first sub-frame in 16m super-frame.

Variable Relative Timing

Fixed Relative Timing Candidates for the Fixed Relative Timing –Should reduce the number of zone switching points between 16e and 16m sub-frames For example, Best Choice of the Fixed Relative Timing –The start of the 16m super-frame should be DL sub-frame before the start of UL transmission.

Proposed Fixed Relative Timing Fixed Position of SFH –Aligned position between cells –Remove the ambiguity problem The Last DL Sub-Frame –Remove the multiple zone switching problem –Only one zone switching point in DL region

Proposed Text on C802.16m/118r1 11.4.2 Frame Structure Supporting Legacy Frames (proposal-1) The relative timing between the legacy and IEEE 802.16m radio frames shall be fixed. The relative start point of IEEE 802.16m TDD frame shall be the DL sub-frame before the start of UL transmission as shown in Figure 11.4-3. Figure 11.4-3: Relative timing of the new and legacy radio frames (example TDD duplex scheme)  proposal-1
