◙AMS needs to acquire system information of neighbor BSs for fast network re-entry during HO (SP1,2,3 and ABI) ◙Two approaches  Contain all NBR-SI (Neighbor System Information) in NBR-ADV Pros: Very simple and no extra actions needed by AMS Cons: –NBR-ADV size may get very large. –Since SP are in IE format, information very inefficiently encoded (full bitmaps)  Partial NBR-SI information gathering Include essential system information for all neighbor BSs (scanning related) Distribute neighbor BS system information (non-scanning related) by optionally including full or partial sub-sets of system information in NBR-ADV. Remaining system information can be requested through AAI_NBR-REQ. Neighbor BS System information

◙Essential system information required for scanning  AAI_NBR-ADV change count  number of total cell types  segment information for this AAI_NBR-ADV message  system information of ABSs from one or more cell types, which is of variable size  FA information  BW information  Duplex mode  MAC protocol version  Index of neighbor ABS in the whole neighbor list maintained by serving ABS  48bit BS-ID  ABS A-Preamble index ◙Remaining system information may be given fully or partially  Indication whether fully, partially or no system information shall be included [2 bit] SFH information ESI information Index to MC configuration Contents of AAI_NBR-ADV

◙Remaining system information may be given fully or partially  Indication whether fully, partially or no system information shall be included (2bit) SFH information ESI information Index to MC configuration ◙Hence 3 Groups can be formed [2 bit indicator] - 0b00: Reserved - 0b01: Neighbor BSs given with essential and full system information - 0b10: Neighbor BSs given with essential and partial system information - 0b11: Neighbor BSs given only essential system information ◙For each group, the BSs may be further categorized by  ABS type (macro, micro, femto, relay, TBD)  carrier frequency  MAC version  TDD/FDD and related definitions (expected to be the same given carrier frequency)  BW, CP info: may not be required if carried in P/S-SCH channel  Multi-carrier capability and configuration Contents of AAI_NBR-ADV

◙Among the Neighbor BSs, the system information of each neighbor BS is included in prioritized manner in terms of high probability of HO ◙Neighbor BSs that AMS have high probability to HO to are included in AAI_NBR-ADV with full system information  No indication of partial system information inclusion needed ◙Others with lower priority of HO may be provided with partial system information (reduced overhead)  Indication required ◙Neighbor BSs with almost no probability are provided with only essential system information  No indication needed Prioritized BS inclusion in NBR_ADV

◙The NBR-SI (system information) indicator [2 bit]  0b00: Reserved  0b01: BSs with essential and full system information  0b10: BSs with essential and partial system information  0b11: BSs with only essential system information ◙For each group the BSs may be further categorized in terms of cell type of other ◙Indicator bitmap [5 bit] that shows what system information is included or omitted is now required only for 0b10 case  Bit #1: SP1  Bit #2: SP2  Bit #3: SP3  Bit #4: MC configuration  Bit #5: ESI ◙Indicator bitmap not needed for 0b01 and 0b11 General NBR-ADV msg format

◙Remaining partial system information not included in NBR- ADV can be acquired by NBR-REQ, during scanning, HO preparation or directly from target ABS upon network re- entry ◙In case of NBR-SI request, in each request message (SCN-REQ, HO-REQ, RNG-REQ), AMS may include the change count, if available, and indicator that relates to the requesting system information set. ◙The ABS then may provide the requested NBR-SI in the corresponding response message Partial NBR-SI gathering

Proposed text Remedy #1 On the 80216m_D1, page 58 line 42, add proposed text in 15.2.6.10 as follows: ---------------------------------------------------- Start of Text ------------------------------------------------------------ 15.2.6.10 AAI_NBR-ADV … Within each cell type, a list of ABSs are provided and the following parameters are carried for each ABS - Index of neighbor ABS in the whole neighbor list maintained by serving ABS - 48bit BS-ID - ABS A-Preamble index - indication whether full system information or partial information is carried for this ABS, which includes - SFH information - ESI information - Index to MC configuration, where for macrocell type, all the necessary system information shall be included, and the format may only carry delta information fields with respect to the reference ABS(e.g., the serving BS or the first BS/ABS in this cell type). Based on the provided amount of system information, the list of ABSs shall be categorized into three groups. The system information group indicate each group as follows: - 0b00: Reserved - 0b01: BS group with full system information - 0b10: BS group with partial system information - 0b11: BS group with only essential system information (required only for scanning) ---------------------------------------------------- End of Text ------------------------------------------------------------

Proposed text Remedy #2 On the 80216m_D1, page 87 line 5, add current text in 15.2.7.1.1 with the proposed text as follows: ---------------------------------------------------- Start of Text ------------------------------------------------------------ 15.2.7 MAC HO procedures 15.2.7.1 Network topology acquisition 15.2.7.1.1 Network topology advertisement An ABS shall periodically broadcast the system information of the neighboring ABSs using an AAI_NBR-ADV message. A broadcast AAI_NBR-ADV message shall not include information of neighbor Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) femtos. Special handling of neighbor information of femto is described in section 15.2.x. A serving ABS may unicast the AAI_NBR-ADV message to an AMS. The AAI_NBR-ADV message may include parameters required for cell selection e.g., cell load and cell type. The ABS may broadcast different fragment of AAI_NBR-ADV independently. Within the AAI_NBR-ADV message, the list of neighbor BSs shall be categorized in terms of provided system information amount. The group indicator informs the AMS of BS groups with full system information, partial system information and only essential system information. Each group may be further sorted according to their deployment types defined in 15.2.6.10. ---------------------------------------------------- End of Text ------------------------------------------------------------
