2 2 DL Control Structure (1/2) Contribution C80216m-08/176 describes a DL control structure that uses both multicast and unicast transmission. Contribution C80216m-08/619r1 shows that this hybrid control structure performs better than both a unicast only scheme and a multicast only scheme. The proposed scheme consists of a –Multicast control segment –Unicast control segment The multicast control segment (MCCS) contains non-user specific control information that indicates how the resources are partitioned and where the user specific control information is located. –In a distributed zone, this consists of a combination index, which indicates how the distributed resources are partitioned. –In the case where some of the resources are persistent allocations, the MCCS also contains a resource availability bitmap (RAB) –In a localized zone, the MCCS consists of a permutation index.

3 3 DL Control Structure (2/2) The user specific assignment information is contained within the assigned partition, which also contains the data. The user specific information includes information such as the MCS of the data and the transmission format used for the data. The mobiles use blind detection to decode the user specific control. The unicast control is scrambled by the user ID of the intended user. For group assignments, the group control is scrambled by the group ID.

4 4 Proposed Text for SDD 11.7.2.3.1 Unicast services control information/content –Unicast service control information consists of both user-specific control information and non-user-specific control information. 11.7.2.3.1.1 Non-user-specific control information –Non-user-specific control information consists of information that is not dedicated to a specific user or a specific group of users. It includes information required to decode the user-specific control. This information is used to determine how the resources are partitioned and where the user-specific control is located. Non-user-specific control information that is not carried in the BCH may be included in this category. Details of non-user specific control information are FFS. 11.7.2.3.1.1 User-specific control information –[Keep existing text in this section]
