I am a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, where I focused my studies in Elementary Education, and Child Development. I have also completed a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education at Fitchburg State College. I am a huge sports fan, especially the Red Sox! I love playing soccer, and running. I have a loving husband named Matthew and two wonderful boys. Sam who is 8and Ben who will be 7 in October. I am really looking forward to working with your child this school year! Any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call me at school: 978-939-8892 or email me. (There is a direct link on my website to my email) Hello Parents! I hope you all had a great Summer! I would like to welcome you and your child to First Grade! I will be putting together a monthly newsletter to inform you of any class news and monthly themes. I will also be posting the newsletters on my website: http://teacherweb.com/MA/TempletonC enterSchool/MrsSyring/ My website will include all curriculum and classroom information. It will be update often, so please utilize this resource if possible. The folder that you have purchased for your child will be used on a daily basis. Your child should bring the folder back and forth from school daily. I will be utilizing this folder as a means of communication. So, any notes that are sent in need to be put in the folder. Also, any work that is done throughout the day will be put in the folder and sent home along with any school notices. Please make sure that the folder comes back to school with your child everyday!! Our class will be having “specials” in school on Monday-Friday. “Specials” consist of Gym, Art, Music, and Health. Gym will be twice a week. The Theme for the Month of September will be:  Review of Kindergarten We will be reviewing the alphabet, letter sounds, and sight words. We will also be establishing a routine, and learning the school rules. We might start working on short vowels!! For the first month of school we will be reviewing some concepts that were taught in Kindergarten. We will work with exploring numbers and patterns, understanding zero, problem-solving strategies, comparing numbers, writing numbers, and working with graphing.

2 Snack-We will be having a morning snack break. Please provide one snack and a drink (non-breakable container) along with your child each day. Lunch- Your child may bring a lunch or order lunch from school. There are monthly menus sent home with each student. The menu is also posted on the school website: nrsd.org The cost of lunch is $2.75 Snack milk is: 55 cents Free and reduced lunch forms will be sent home in a packet from the cafeteria staff. Please ensure that your child turns in this money to me on Monday morning. It is important to do this to maintain enough milk/lunch for the school each week. We will be having an afternoon break if you want to send an extra drink!! If you are picking up your child from school, please send a note with your child stating your plans, otherwise I will have to put your child on the bus.
