5 Our School Ethos Most importantly every child is happy, secure and confident. Every child an active agent in their own learning. Provide high quality learning activities that fully engage and promote positive interaction. Each child given goals to reach appropriate to their level. Praise and positive reinforcement help a child reach their full potential. Assessment which involves the children in their own development and progress. Partnership approach between home and school is very important.

10 Characteristics of effective learning : Playing and exploring Active learning Creating and thinking critically Classroom activities are carefully thought out through Adult-Led and Child Initiated activities. How does your child learn at school?

11 Reading Reading Fundamentals Program  Phonics sessions twice a day every day  Story session 3 times a week Reading Books can be changed every day. Please send them back to school when you are finished reading them. Library books are changed once a week.

12 Writing New writing program this year Story linked to each family of letters to help the children to remember how to form each letter h = down bump, back up, push over, down bump and flick

13 Reminders Hats, water bottles, outdoor shoes are needed in school every day Snack and lunch in different boxes Everything needs to be named and labelled Folder for Communication Book, Reading and Library books must come to school every day. Anything which you would like to discuss you can make an appointment with your child’s teacher.

14 At Home Visit our class blogs regularly Talk about what your child has learned at school-sounds and words of the week, numbers and topic work. Talk about the letters, numbers, colours and things that you see when you’re out and about Encourage children to be independent by dressing and undressing themselves
