Sentence Parts: Predicate Nominative The predicate nominative (PN) is a noun or pronoun that follows a linking verb. It renames the subject To find it, say “subject,” “linking verb,” “what?” Example: He is a nice guy. Write the sentences below. Write PN above the predicate nominative in each sentence. 1. The Braves are my favorite sports team. 2. His favorite toy is a truck.

It describes the subject To find it, say “subject,” “linking verb,” “what?” Example: He is nice. Write the sentences below. Write PA above the predicate adjectives in each sentence. 1. Pepperoni pizza is delicious! 2. The students were nervous before the big test.

Sentence Parts: Direct/Indirect Object To find a direct object say “subject,” “verb,” “what?” To find an indirect object say “subject,” “verb,” “direct object,” “to or for whom or what?” Will never be in a prepositional phrase. (IO) (DO) Example: He gave me the paper Write the sentences below. Write DO above the direct object and IO above the indirect objects. 1. He told his parents a lie. 2. Our boss is buying us dinner.
