1 Year 7 Activity Week Trip July 13 th – July 16 th 2015 Parents’ Information Evening

2 Year 7 Activity Week Trip July 13 th -16th Leave school around 9.30 am on Monday morning. Come in at the normal time. Arrive back between 4.30 and 5pm on Thursday afternoon.

3 The Herschel Staff Team Mrs Callender & Mrs Smith (Trip Leaders) Mrs Lightfoot (Head of year 7) Mr Brown, Miss Wood, Mr Nicholls, Mr Johnson

4 Phasels Wood Activity Centre Near Hemel Hempstead, about 45 minutes by coach from school. Team of specialist staff provided by Peak Mountain Adventures

5 Objectives To have fun To make new friends To learn some new skills To try out some new activities To challenge ourselves

6 Activities Camping Climbing Canoeing Abseiling Archery Bushcraft & more In groups of 10 or 11. Specialist instructor plus a Herschel staff member.

7 Life jackets are worn and there is no need to be able to swim.

10 Accommodation Tents 2 or 3 pupils in each tent Pupils have chosen their own tent groups. Tents are provided You must bring

11 Food We all eat together in a large marquee. The chef will have a list of dietary requirements and will cater accordingly. All food is provided You must bring

12 You must be prepared for wet weather As well as the sun

14 Frequently Asked Questions Can I bring my phone, hair straighteners or other electronic equipment? No thank you.

15 Frequently Asked Questions Will I be forced to do any activity? No, but you will be encouraged to.

16 Frequently Asked Questions Are there showers? Yes and they are warm.

17 Frequently Asked Questions How do parents contact their child in case of emergency? Contact Mr Rose on 07799768826 Alternatively, ring the school office during the day. They will then contact us.

18 Frequently Asked Questions Do I need to bring any money ? No, but there are vending machines and a small tuck shop where you can buy snacks and drinks if you wish.

19 Frequently asked Questions? If my son/daughter breaks the code of conduct, will I be summoned to Phasels Wood to drive them home? Yes you will.

20 What do you need to do now?  Make sure you have handed in your consent / medical form by Friday.  Assemble your kit  Look forward to July 13th
