3 Math Methods- manipulative, Games, guided practice, Contracts, journals First Quarter: routines (calendar, attendance etc..) rote counting, counting objects and comparing Seconds quarter: measuring, counting more or less, counting to 50, counting on from a given number Third Quarter: ways to make numbers, describe solution, make and combine 2-D shapes Fourth Quarter: counting to 100, measuring, how many in all (addition), how many of each (sorting), same and different

4 Social Studies Classroom and school rules Investigate how individual families and groups are similar and different. Demonstrate citizenship in the Classroom. Express basic geographic concepts in real life.

5 Literacy Learn letters Learn sound of letters Identifying that letters make words Identify and make Rhymes Read and comprehend:goal is level 6 by the end of the year.

6 Writing Creating pictures to tell a story, using inventive spelling, spelling high frequency words correctly with support. Spelling test will be given third quarter for some students and fourth quarter for others you will be notified when your child will be given spelling words.

7 Science Understand how objects are described based on their physical properties and how they are used. Understand the positions and motions of objects and organisms observed in the environment. Understand change and observable patterns of weather that occur from day to day and throughout the year. Compare characteristics of animals that make them alike and different from other animals and nonliving things.

8 Homework F.R.E.D.= Families Read Every Day (parents read to their Child) Leveled Readers=Books your child reads to you. This is based on your child’s reading level and comprehension level. (some students) super star math Math assignments on the computer Spelling beginning third or fourth quarter

9 Miscellaneous Communication: Email best EXCEPT for transportation notes; we will check FRED bags every day Please check web site regularly Birthdays- Class book preferred and guest reader wonderful / no food please Shoes- No crocs or flip flops Medicine- Must have a doctor’s note and will be routed through the nurses office Please put everything your child needs in their lunch box (drinks, spoons etc…)
