At the start of the play Juliet’s father appears to be very caring and loving. He thinks he has done a good thing by arranging her marriage to Paris He can be very cruel towards Juliet He feels he owns her “She is the hopeful lady of my earth” Here he is talking to Paris about Juliet. He calls her ‘lady’ which is very respectful By saying ‘of my earth’ he means that because she is his only child she means everything to him. “Doth she not count her bless’d?” “baggage” “And you be mine, I’ll give you to my friend”

Using the point to start your paragraph At the start of the play Juliet’s father appears to be a very caring parent. He says to Paris “she is the hopeful lady of my earth.” By calling her ‘lady’ he is being respectful and showing she deserves to be treated well. He says ‘of my earth’ to show how she is everything to him. This is because she is his only child. Always put your quote in quotation marks “” Use all your notes from your explanation. Make sure you pick out key words. Try to explain why the character has said this quote. What was life like when Shakespeare wrote?

7 Now you try Lord Capulet thinks he has done a good thing for his daughter by arranging her marriage. He asks his wife Does she not count her bless’d?.
