5  Americans supported Isolationism Isolationism: staying out of world struggles to keep one’s country safe.  Many countries in Europe did not pay back war debts from WW1  Neutrality Act of 1935 Made it illegal to see weapons to other countries

6  December 7, 1941  Japanese aircrafts attacked Pearl Harbor More than 2300 troops were killed  December 8 th, America declared war on Japan  Germany declared war on the United States
