Sharepoint Getting started

Please log on to the Adult and Family Education website: adulted.d11.org Then go to AFE Teaching Staff and click on Valerie McIntosh. Explore the homepage, calendar, shared documents, pictures and videos.

Today I am: Edit my homepage Add entries, documents and links to my calendar Make changes to my calendar I’ll know I’ve succeeded if: So that I can: Exploring Sharepoint I have my website set up with a personalized homepage and at least one calendar entry with links!

Editing your home page Click on the PAGE tab and then the “Check Out” icon to enable editing. Click on Edit.

Just click on the section you want to change…. It works a lot like Word.

After you make your changes, click on the “Check it in” link, then press “Continue.”

The changes that you have made are visible only to you until you publish the page. When you are ready for everyone else to see it, click on “Publish this draft” link.

Click on “+ADD” in the lower right hand section of the date box on the calendar. You must add a title and start and end times. In this screen you may add links to documents and internet pages. Adding entries to your calendar

To link a document: 1.Click on “Click here to add new content” link. 2.Click on the “INSERT” tab and “upload file” icon.

To link a document: (continued) 3.Select your file then change the destination library to “Shared Documents”** so that you and your students can access them later without logging into the system. Then click OK. 4.Change the title of the file, if necessary then click “Save.” ** If you are uploading pictures or videos, you may choose the Pictures or Videos folder instead of Shared Documents.

To link a website: 1.Click on the “Click here to add new content” link or, if something has already been linked, click in the linked file box and hit return to move the curser to the next line. 2.Click on the “INSERT” tab, LINK, then “From Address” 3.Fill in your text to display and the internet address, then click OK.

Click “Save” and you are done!!

Editing your calendar entries To make changes to a calendar entry, click on the calendar date you want to change, then click “Edit Item.” This will take you back to the same screen you had when you created the entry.

If you put the calendar entry on the wrong date, you can drag and drop it to a new date.
