1 Trafford Volunteer Coordinators’ Forum Releasing The Potential

2 What is Releasing the Potential? A partnership approach to delivering voluntary sector support in Trafford. Funded by a joint bid to the Transforming Local Infrastructure fund.

3 Realising the Potential Partners Delivery –VCAT –BlueSCI –Trafford Housing Trust –Trafford CVS & Volunteer Centre Supported by Trafford Council, Greater Manchester Volunteering, Trafford College, and Trafford Community Leisure Trust.

5 Volunteering Targets Workstream 3: Trafford Housing Trust Develop new Employee Supported Volunteering Schemes in local companies Identify and coordinate opportunities for businesses –To tackle community projects –To get involved in group volunteering opportunities.

7 Volunteering Targets Workstream 4: VCAT, Trafford CVS and Volunteer Centre Increase the number of people volunteering Increase the number of and quality of volunteering opportunities Increase the number of people achieving educational qualifications through volunteering Increase the level of satisfaction with volunteering

8 What will we do? Measure Volunteering –Currently no measure of volunteers/volunteer opportunities in Trafford. –Use listings on v-base to gauge the level of volunteering activity. –Work with the Volunteer Centre to monitor volunteering opportunities and queries on a regular basis.

9 What will we do? Increase the number of volunteers –Work with Trafford Volunteer Centre to recruit volunteers to increase the centre’s capacity for people to receive advice and support to take up volunteering

10 What will we do? Increase the Number and Quality of Opportunities –VCAT staff, Heather Smith and Craig Almond –Work directly with voluntary sector organisations to develop policies and practice. –Work with the Trafford Volunteer Coordinators Forum (VCF) to identify opportunities for training and share good practice. –Encourage VCF members to list volunteering opportunities with the Volunteer Centre and on www.do-it.org.uk www.do-it.org.uk

11 What will we do? Employee Supported Volunteering and Group Volunteering Projects –Trafford Housing Trust, Trafford CVS & Volunteer Centre and VCAT working together –Identify private sector organisations seeking staff volunteering opportunities –Identify and support voluntary sector organisations with volunteering opportunities that are suitable for business volunteering projects –Publicise both volunteering opportunities and the outcomes of volunteering projects

12 What will we do? Educational qualifications through volunteering –No measure of current activity is available. We will work with the VCF, Volunteer Strategy Implementation Group and other partners to map the current situation and then to identify appropriate steps for further action.

13 What will we do? Increase satisfaction with volunteering –VCAT will work with Trafford Volunteer Centre to monitor the experience of volunteers who access opportunities through the Centre. They will also work with the VCF to get feedback from organisations on the Releasing the Potential activities.

14 What does this mean for the VCF? Share and develop good practice Keep up to date with progress towards Releasing the Potential volunteering targets Work with Releasing the Potential partners to plan and promote Trafford volunteering celebration in Volunteers Week 2013 Build links with Volunteer Strategy Implementation Group Strengthen the voice of the voluntary and community sector (Workstream1).
