Algebra counts as a high school 1.0 credit and because it is the foundation for future math classes, I believe students should attain a high level of understanding. Parents, please be sure that your child wants to take algebra and they are not just doing it for you. The work load is heavy and if the student doesn ’ t really want to learn the math, it gets very frustrating for everyone. I will, to the best of my ability, help every student to be successful!

Profile of a Successful Pre-AP/Accelerated Student Professes interest in subject selected Excellent study skills and habits as well as being a self-motivated, organized, independent worker Carefully considers time commitments Asks questions and participates in class Perseveres when faced with challenging material Asks for assistance when needed Plans and works ahead on long term projects

All communication with my students and their parents is important to me. I will return emails or phone calls within 24 hours unless I am absent.

Grading Policy Major Grades (at least 2 per six weeks)– 70% Includes TESTS and Projects Daily Grades (at least 6 per six weeks)– 30% Includes Homework and Quizzes Late Work- Homework will be given a 50 point reduction for each day late up until the 2 nd day. Projects will be given a 15 point reduction for each day late up until the 3 rd day.

Homework counts as an effort grade. Therefore, to receive a 100 the student must show work and attempt every problem. With parental support the students learn the importance of trying and practicing new math concepts during a homework assignment, not a quiz or test. This way they are not penalized for mistakes. HOMEWORK? It is the students responsibility to pick up their make-up work from their class period tray on the side counter after an absence. Make-Up Work?
