Expectations for the rest of the year Transitioning to 8 th grade

Lockers & Outside Behavior  When you leave class you should go right to your locker and get your materials for the next classes- do not spend your time socializing  Lockers are a privilege that can be taken away  All school rules apply during the ENTIRE school day- in the classroom, hallway, lunch, recess, etc.  After school behavior (yes, that includes the blacktop) should still be appropriate including language

Lateness  Time between classes should be no more than a few minutes.  When you are late to class you are losing valuable learning time.  If you come to class after it has begun you must have a pass.  After lunch, you must be in the classroom by 12:45, no later.

New Late Work Policy  Assignments reflect the work we are doing in school- late work loses meaning  No stories, no excuses, no “But I did it…” If the work is not in school, it is considered not done  Being absent does not excuse you from work  Bottom line- no late work

Extra Help  When you are absent, miss class, or just simply do not feel like you understand something fully… get extra help  Teachers make time before and after school to help  Speak to the specific teacher and set up a day and time  Show up! Do not say you are coming and then “forget”  Extra help is not a replacement for Homework Club

Homework Club  There are many supports in place for you, including Homework Club  If you are in Homework Club, use the time for homework, not games or socializing  Homework does include projects and typing. Use that time to get those poems and presentations done!  Access to technology... no reason to not have things printed or typed

Nurse  Going to the nurse is reserved for serious illness only.  No one may go to the nurse without a pass from a teacher-this includes going between periods and before/after lunch.  If you go home due to illness, you should try to get your work before leaving.

Planning & Work Quality  Put time and effort into your work  EDIT, EDIT, EDIT!!  Have a friend or family member check work  Check the rubric. It is a road map to success!  Remember your audience. Do you want to be bored?

Field Trips  Field trips are being planned for the coming months  Participation is dependent upon several factors  Field trips are rewarding learning experiences (and fun too!)  You don’t want to miss them!

Transitions  You are halfway through 7 th grade...  That means you are very close to being in 8 th grade and then high school!  NOW is the time to start forming good habits that will help you be successful!  If you are failing, there are consequences.  It’s a new year, make it a fresh start!
