International Education in Glasgow schools Some Facts 53 schools have established links with international partners Glasgow schools linked to 95 countries Schools working within Global and EU Lifelong Learning Programmes in partnership with British Council: Connecting Classrooms, Comenius school partnerships, in- service training Regio and eTwinning

International School Partnerships: Trinidad Scope: 12 Glasgow schools linked with 12 schools in St George East, Trinidad Original funding: British Council Reciprocal visits 8 Glasgow teachers to Trinidad February 2012; 10 Trinidadian teachers to Glasgow May 2013; 2 Glasgow teachers to TT October 2012 Experiences and Outcomes linked to Glasgow’s Inclusive Legacy for Education 2014

6. International Education and CfE Learning about biodiversity St Paul’s High: Investigation: What are the best conditions for a population of a species to survive in Scotland/ Trinidad. Could that species survive in their partner’s country? If so why and if not why not? I have collaborated with others to find and present information on how scientists from Scotland and beyond have contributed to innovative research and development SCN3 -20a St Thomas Aquinas Secondary are working on creating stories about ospreys- linking to biodiversity- whilst students in Trinidad are writing about ospreys there. Pupils are exchanging stores which will be brought to life through music and drama. Students in Glasgow and Trinidad will learn about the osprey in both environments. I can sample and identify living things from different habitats to compare their biodiversity and can suggest reasons for their distribution. SCN 3-01a St Bartholomew’s Primary: Classification using animals from Trinidad; learning about the habitats and environment of animals in Trinidad I can distinguish between living and non- living things. I can sort living things into groups and explain my decisions. SCN 1-01a

International Partnerships: Comenius Regio- Marseille Funding: British Council 2 years Linked Local Authorities: Glasgow City Council/ Ville de Marseille Title ‘ Education for All’ ‘Education pour Tous’ Theme: enhancing second language support for newly arrived bilingual young people to Glasgow and Marseille Marseille: formal twinned city with Glasgow – partnership capacity increased
