2 Prompt- 2004- Analyze the ways in which technology and mass culture contributed to the success of dictators in the 1920’s and 1930’s.

3 o Dictators  Adolf Hitler  Joseph Stalin  Benito Mussolini  Used propaganda to promote themselves and their policies  Controlled Radios or “The airwaves” o Technology  Dictators were able to take control of the radios and were able to draw attention of many people  ¾ people had at least one radio  German movies were very popular in the 1920’s  ¼ adults watched movies twice a week in the 1920’s  Movies promoted dictators such as Adolf Hitler  “The Great Dictator”, a movie about Hitler

4  Posters Posters were popular in every country for politics  Books The Mein Kampf  Comics Comics were also used to promote dictators  Art Dictators used art to influence the population and show their superiority over others.

6  His posters stood out to the citizens  The posters he put up showed what the people wanted to see  Nazis promised to solve the depression  Through propaganda he promised to take back what was lost at versailles  Germans are the “master race”

7  Used the radio to promote his “Five-Year- Plan” This plan promised more industry, and better farm production  He created a totalitarian state With propaganda he forced totalitarianism among his people He did not allow people to speak against the government

8  Controlled the citizens the citizens everyday life was controlled by the government  Did not allow critics Stalin did not allow anyone at all to speak against the government without a consequence  Nationalism Totalitarian states glorified there country to an extreme.
